Our Curriculum: Camp Romans 1:16 of Lexington, KY 2015

Camp Romans 1:16 began in the summer of 2015 in Lexington, Ky at the Charles Young Center

Our curriculum comes from the Holy Bible, which we believe to be the only encompassing source of TRUTH. We believe that the prime root of our physical well-being, education, life-style and spiritual well-being can be learned and obtained from the Holy Bible. Our primary method of teaching, is teaching the Bible through art "Biblical Arts" as we like to call it. There are a plethora of personality achievements we work towards such as love, character, patience, virtue and morale. Anomie, lawlessness derive from a lack of moral fortitude. Therefor we find it necessary to create learning opportunities and environments to enforce morale. Our class creed is 'you reap what you sow'. The children are taught that God created us from the dust of the ground, all of us are made from that ground. In the same way, we sow an orange see, we can expect the fruit of an orange in its ordained season. Similarly, if we sow an act of kindness we can anticipate reaping the fruit of what kindness can bare. Most importantly, we acknowledge that teachings can only go so far as we only know in part. Therefore, our desire is to make sure the emphasis remains on having a relationship with Christ.

Our curriculum is based in the book of Genesis. We tend to stir away from political correctness and lean toward a Biblical world view. We believe it is important that children understand the origin of:
Planet Earth
Language
People and types of people
Life
Death
Consequence
Sin
Purpose

In addition, we teach the importance of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Salvation), which is modeled in the story of Adam and Eve in the garden. We believe it is vital to understand why things MUST die, as death is the prerequisite for LIFE.

"Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die; and that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain; but God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body" -1 Corinthians 15:36

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit." -John 12:24

We remain steadfast in learning outside of the classroom. Liberal learning. That being said, we leave it at the liberty of the child to express, think and speak freely (but all things in decency and order).

Our key components of our curriculum included:
Prayer
Learning scriptures
Vocabulary building
Working as a unit
Math
Art
Hands on Learning
Geography
The Sciences
Language
Reading
Problem solving/Critical thinking

Our hopes are that children obtain more knowledge about God. Ultimately, students would respect who gives and takes life and would not fear death, but understand the necessity and why it has to happen. Sometimes, things can be defined by the opposite. Concluding, our Awesome God truly loves us all, and wants us to know, thus bringing us into His abundant life.
